Lecturers: Dr. Tamar Kbiladze

Time of the course: Fridays 11:45-15:45, Room F015

This course aims to provide students with an in-depth understanding of the diverse ideas and perspectives they are likely to encounter when conducting business in the European market. Cross-cultural comparisons will be made using examples from various European countries from a particular perspective from Georgia. The course emphasizes the development of students' intercultural competence, enabling them to effectively perceive and navigate cultural differences when interacting with international partners from these European markets. The intercultural competence gained in the course is both "culture-specific" and "culture-general," with students practicing culture-specific "crash investigations" into selected European countries. The course will also provide students with theoretical insights into European working styles, perceptions of time, religions, and education styles, which will be applied in exercises and concrete simulations involving active interaction with participants from these diverse cultural backgrounds in the classroom. Ultimately, the course's insights into European cultures and perspectives will help students assess their own cultural backgrounds and provide them with guidance on how to conduct business successfully in Europe.
